Who can attend, and in-person attendance

IBM Qiskit Fall Fest 2026 is an in-person event held on the NUST H-12 campus, and it is open to the public. You do not need to be a NUST student, or a student at all, to take part.

Attendance is free to attend. There is no registration fee and no charge for the sessions, the hackathon or the certificate.

There is no virtual, hybrid or streamed option. Registration includes a required question confirming that you live in or can travel to the Islamabad area and will attend in person; IBM asks every in-person Fall Fest to confirm this, and registrations that do not confirm it will not be accepted.

Places may be limited by the size of the room. If registrations exceed capacity we may close registration early or operate a waiting list, and a confirmed place is one you have received a confirmation email for.

Registration and the information you give us

Registration is handled through an external Google Form linked from this site. Submitting the form is a request for a place, not a guarantee of one; your place is confirmed when the organisers email you to say so.

Please give accurate information. We use the email address and phone number you supply to send joining instructions, schedule changes and certificate details, so an address you do not check is the most common reason people miss something.

Register only for yourself. Do not submit the form on someone else's behalf without their knowledge, and do not submit duplicate registrations.

We may decline or withdraw a registration where the form is incomplete, where the in-person confirmation is not given, or where someone has previously breached the code of conduct below.

Photo, video and likeness release

Photographs, video and screen recordings are taken throughout the event for the event recap, for reporting back to the IBM Quantum Fall Fest programme, and for the society's own records. The registration form asks for your consent before you attend.

By giving consent you grant NPAS a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide permission to use your image, voice and likeness, as captured at the event, in the recap on this website, in posts on the society's social media channels, in materials shared with IBM Quantum for the Fall Fest programme and on IBM Quantum's own Fall Fest channels, and in future promotion of society events. No payment is made for this use.

You can decline. Select the decline option on the registration form and tell the registration desk when you arrive, and the media team will keep you out of photographs, video and group shots. Declining does not affect your participation, your access to any session or your certificate.

You can withdraw consent at any time, before or after the event, by emailing the organisers with your name and the date of the material. We will remove it from the channels we control as soon as we reasonably can. Material that has already been printed, published by IBM Quantum, or re-shared by other people may not be recoverable, and we will tell you honestly where that is the case.

Session recordings and photographs may show slides, whiteboards and laptop screens. If you are working on something you do not want captured, tell a volunteer and we will avoid your table.

Code of conduct, and grounds for removal

Everyone who registers agrees to this code of conduct. It applies to all participants, speakers, volunteers, organisers and guests, for the whole event and in any chat groups or channels we run alongside it.

Expected behaviour: treat other people with respect, assume good faith, make room for beginners, and follow instructions from organisers, volunteers and campus staff.

Unacceptable behaviour includes harassment or intimidation of any kind; discriminatory remarks relating to gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, disability, appearance or background; sexual attention that is not welcome; photographing or recording someone who has asked you not to; sustained disruption of talks or labs; passing off someone else's work as your own in the hackathon; and damage to campus property or other people's equipment.

Campus rules apply on top of this code while you are on university grounds, as does the law of Pakistan.

Organisers may, at their discretion, warn a participant, exclude them from a session, or remove them from the event entirely, without refund — the event is free, so there is nothing to refund — and may decline their registration for future society events. Serious matters may be reported to the university or to the authorities.

To report something, speak to any organiser or volunteer on site, or email the organisers using the contact address on this site. Reports are handled by the organising team as discreetly as the situation allows.

Your personal data

The registration form collects: your name, email address, phone number, age bracket, affiliation (student, professional or other), city of residence, your in-person attendance confirmation, your experience level, dietary requirements, accessibility needs, swag size, how you heard about the event, and your answers to the photo release and code of conduct questions.

Responses are collected in Google Forms and stored in a Google account held by NPAS. Google acts as our processor for that storage and its own terms and privacy policy apply to the service itself.

Access is limited to the NPAS organisers who need it to run the event — the registration desk, the catering and accessibility leads, and the certificate lead.

IBM Quantum receives aggregate figures about the event, such as the number of registrations, attendance and a summary of the audience mix. It does not receive your phone number, your dietary requirements or your accessibility needs.

TODO — set a retention period, for example: responses are deleted within six months of the event, except a name-only list kept as a record of certificates issued.

To see, correct or delete the data we hold about you, email the organisers from the address you registered with. We will action deletion requests within a reasonable time; a minimal record that a certificate was issued to you may be kept.

We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to sponsors or third parties for marketing.

IBM Quantum accounts and IBM services

The labs involve creating a free IBM Quantum account and submitting circuits to IBM Quantum systems. That account is a direct relationship between you and IBM: it is governed by IBM's own terms of use and privacy policy, not by these terms, and we are not a party to it.

We do not control IBM Quantum hardware availability, queue times, quotas or platform changes. If a system is unavailable during a lab we will fall back to simulators.

Certificates are issued through the IBM Quantum Fall Fest programme. In 2025 they were signed by Katie Pizzolato, Vice President, Quantum Algorithms and Scientific Partnerships at IBM.

Liability, personal property and safety

You attend at your own risk and are responsible for taking reasonable care of yourself and your belongings while on campus.

We are not responsible for loss of, damage to, or theft of laptops, chargers, bags or any other personal property brought to the event. Do not leave equipment unattended between sessions.

Follow campus safety, fire and security instructions at all times, and follow the directions of organisers and campus staff in an emergency.

If you have a medical condition that organisers should know about, tell us in advance through the registration form or in person at the desk. In an emergency we will call for help, but we are not medical professionals.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Changes to the schedule, and cancellation

The programme is subject to change. Session titles, running order, speakers, lab content and timings may all change, and speakers may withdraw at short notice.

We may postpone, shorten, relocate or cancel the event, for example because of campus closure, venue availability, security advice or weather. If that happens we will email everyone who registered and update this site.

Because the event is free, there are no fees to refund. We are not responsible for travel, accommodation or other costs you incur in connection with attending, including if the event changes or is cancelled.

Third-party links and materials

This site links to services we do not operate, including Google Forms for registration and IBM and Qiskit documentation. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or availability.

Teaching materials, notebooks and slides used during the event may carry their own licences from their authors. Qiskit itself is open source and governed by its own licence. Respect those licences when you reuse anything from the labs.

IBM, IBM Quantum and Qiskit are trademarks of International Business Machines Corporation. They are used on this site to identify the Fall Fest programme that this event is part of, and their use does not imply that IBM operates or endorses anything else on this site.
